Pool Evacuation Procedure
Sandwell Leisure Trust is likely
to be testing evacuation drills at various times when the pool is in use.
It is the club's duty to inform you of the procedure and your duty as a member
to follow
instructions and be aware of the evacuation procedures.
Evacuation of the building - swimming club
On hearing the fire alarm ( the continuous bell sound)
1
- Follow the instructions of the lifeguards
2
- All swimmers clear the pool and surround
3
- Main pool - group together by the fire exit in the corridor at the shallow end
of the pool
- Small pool - line up along the wall next to the fire exit by the family
changing rooms
4 - Lifeguards will issue space blankets
5 - Spectators should wait at the same fire exits with the bathers
6 - Club members in the changing rooms :-
if dressed - evacuate by the nearest fire exit and assemble on the front car
park
if undressed-
make yourself decent, join the bathers in the corridor at the
shallow end of the main pool
7 - All Club members are to remain with the lifeguard to await instructions from
the Duty Manager to evacuate the building
8 - No one should re-enter the pool or
building until given instruction to do so
Note the emergency evacuation point = the Front Car Park
Implications for swimmers
1. You have been requested to let the coach know when you are leaving the
pool at any time and now this makes it absolutely imperative you do so as if you
do not then you could throw a register check completely wrong
2. As we keep saying to you it would be best if you did not leave the pool at all
3. If you join a session after a start time make sure the coach knows of your
presence so you can be added to the register
Implications for everyone
It is essential that if your telephone contact or any other emergency contact
details change you give or send these to Christine Oates on
