Due to circumstances beyond our control we have unfortunately had to cancel the beginners classes due to start on 1 August at 4.10pm. We apologise if this causes disappointment to the swimmers.
Swimmers should now arrive for the 4.45pm class instead.

Our existing swimmers have progressed very well over the last year and we are now in a position to offer vacancies within out Learn to Swim Programme.
On offer with Haden Hill Swimming Club
A free taster lesson on a Sunday or Monday evening to anyone interested in joining our programme from a complete beginner to an advanced swimmer our 30 minute lessons are structured for anyone who would like to achieve Stages 1 to 7 of The New asa National Plan for Teaching.
Information for Parents/Swimmers on Progression available within HHSC
Learners who are already enrolled in HHSC Teaching Programme have the opportunity to progress into Competitive Swimming.
For swimmers who have reached NPTS Stage 5 who are gifted and talented and have a desire to participate in Competitive Swimming.
Working at NPTS Stage 5 These swimmers can enrol for an extra night on a Thursday 7:45 to 8:30pm this group is called Pre - Competitive Development Group. The aim of this group is to improve all 4 strokes and learn basic skills required in Competitive swimming.
Please note there is an extra charge for this night.
For swimmers who have completed NPTS Stage 7:
These swimmers have a desire to participate in Competitive Swimming.
On completion of Stage 7 NPTS We can offer swimmers a place within a group which is called The Competitive Development Group here swimmers can complete The NPTS Competitive Swimming Programme Stages 8,9,10 the aim of this group is to learn various advanced / progressive skills set down by the NPTS.
For those swimmers who complete NPTS Stage 7.
Who do not wish to continue down the Competitive Pathway
Swimmers who receive Stage 7 NPTS Who do not whish to continue on to Competitive Swimming stages 8 9 10 must inform their Teacher. The Teacher will then be able to give you advice on other aquatic opportunities which are available.

We also provide within our Programme an advanced swimmer pathway. This is targeting swimmers who have already reached Stage 7 of NPTS and are interested in Competitive Swimming.
We can offer these swimmers Stages 8,9,10 of NPTS with in our Competitive Development Group where swimmers learn skills to enable them to take part in Competitive swimming.

We have our Club Night from 7:45 to 8:45 every Thursday evening we are a friendly bunch of people so if you would like to pay us a visit and have a look round you would be made most welcome. This would give you an opportunity to talk with other members and officials of the Club who would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Teaching Classes with Haden Hill Swimming Club
Teaching classes of 30 minute duration are run at Haden Hill Leisure Centre on
behalf of the Club on Monday evenings from 18.10 hrs and Sunday afternoon from
16.45 hrs.
Eligibility:
The classes are open to non swimmers and beginners who are of school age and
have the maturity to listen to and follow instructions or have disabilities
which have been declared at the time of registration and can be managed in the
small pool at Haden Hill Leisure Centre.
Attendance at these lessons should:
Ensure the child is confident in water, learns to treat water with respect, be confident and knowing about how to cope in that setting
Enable the swimmer to achieve the various skills as laid down in the National Teaching Plan for Swimming (NTPS)
Give the swimmer access to a reward and award system which will lead to the collection of evidence and the compilation of a record of achievement
Reach a standard, which enables the family to be happy with the swimmer's water skills and withdraw from the swimming programme
Allow the swimmer to come to a choice point when a decision is made about participation in other water activities, competitive swimming, water polo, life saving synchronised swimming etc
The Teaching is led by:
The teachers following the NTPS
A lead Teacher who is licensed and carries a Club Coach qualification recognised by the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA)
Coaching staff who are qualified and have undergone the checks appropriate to the Child Protection Policy of the ASA and HHSC
Teaching Groups are:
Of mixed sex and have teacher pupil ratios recommended by the ASA
Subject to registration check at each lesson
Conducted with regard to the Child Protection Policy of the ASA and HHSC and any Health and Safety Conditions laid down by the Leisure Trust and staff are mindful and knowing of any disabilities
Teaching Lessons are based on:
Termly cycles of 12 weeks and will be compliant with the ASA Swim21 accreditation
The assumption that the swimmer will attend on a regular basis and notify the teacher of any absence or anticipated absence
Parents registering and paying for their lessons in advance at times deemed appropriate by the Club
An understanding that any badges or awards will be paid for separately to a recognised and responsible member of staff
Parents will accept that:
They will be responsible for bringing the swimmer to, and taking the swimmer from, the pool and remain on site and accessible for the period of the teaching lesson

The responsibility for the swimmers in the pool or on the poolside rests with the coaching staff but at all other times parents are responsible for their children’s supervision and well being
They will not be seeking to contact their child or the teacher during lessons
They will encourage swimmers not to run or jump on the poolside and listen to teacher instruction at all times and especially if emergency evacuation procedures are invoked
Any complaints will be addressed via the HHSC Complaints procedure
Offer your swimmer the opportunity to achieve success and competence in water whereby it is possible to make an educated choice about participation in appropriate aquatic activities
Give you the opportunity to be active partners in that process by encouraging your swimmer at all times to experience family excitement at progress and achievement and displaying a commitment to, and participation in, the awards programme
Give you every help and encouragement to create a swimmer’s record of achievement
Welcome you as an active partner in the delivery of the Learn to Swim Programme by offering you opportunities to become a volunteer helper
Come down to Haden Hill Leisure Centre and meet with us on a Monday or Sunday night
